These principles are supported by robust management systems that ensure consistent performance delivery, and allow our team to constantly monitor our system for potential improvements. Trigon is one of the few companies in our industry with ISO certification in all key management systems.
Green Marine Certification
Trigon maintains Green Marine Certification and has been a member of the voluntary marine industry environmental certification program for more than a decade. Product Containment
We operate our terminal to ensure high performance and minimal environmental impact. One of our most important operational focal points is our product management process.
The coal trains we receive are loaded at the mines with flat profiles, and surface-sprayed to prevent material from escaping during transit. When trains arrive at our terminal, the loads are misted with water to contain the product during unloading, after which individual rail cars are immediately washed. Storage piles are continually dampened by dozens of automatic water sprays, which are activated through real-time weather monitoring. A large-volume mobile water truck and crew also provide additional dust control.
A closed system of drainage ditches surrounds the terminal, which directs all runoff to a settling pond. Here, any residual coal is removed before the water is re-circulated and re-used.

Product quality is an important differentiator in our increasingly competitive commodity marketplace. Our team takes great care and pride to ensure that everything leaves our facility in the same state in which it arrived. Our Quality Management System is designed and certified to exceed the requirements of the international ISO 9001 Standard.
