Staying Safe Through the Darker Days
Prince Rupert, B.C., November 16, 2020 — COVID-19 has been front and centre in our lives, our communities and at Ridley Terminals since March. We have actively monitored the evolving information and recommended practices to ensure the precautions in place across our terminal allow for safe operations and, keep our team healthy. Having a safe and healthy workplace goes well beyond COVID-19 precautions, and requires constant focus, effort and energy. Our commitment as a team – making sure everyone who comes to our terminal returns home safely to their families – is fundamental to our shared values. There are inherent risks at an industrial operation like ours, and the need for safety diligence is particularly top-of-mind for me at this time of year as our north coast days get shorter, wetter and colder. It is easy to become complacent, to skip a step, to rush, to lose focus on the task at hand, and that’s when accidents can happen. So, I am challenging our team, and you, to take a moment right now to recommit to maintaining your personal focus on safely – at work, at home and out in the community. Let’s all make sure we take good care this winter.
