Please be advised that as part of land clearing activities currently underway on Trigon’s Area A leased lands on Ridley Island, Trigon intends to commence open burning tests of waste wood starting in the first available venting window on or after September 3, 2024, and subject to lifting of the fire ban on the north coast.
Trigon’s goal is to burn waste wood with minimal risk to human and environmental health and to minimize smoke from open burning.
Test burns of a small number of piles will be conducted for a period of roughly one month to confirm the wood has seasoned sufficiently and that the burns can be conducted in an efficient manner with the least amount of smoke. Following the test burns, it is anticipated that burning will continue on-site for two to four months depending on weather, venting windows, and other external factors such as fire bans.
