Trigon Pacific LPG

Closing an Export Capacity Gap

The Project

Liquid Petroleum Gas, also referred to as propane and butane, is a byproduct of oil and gas production. Widely used for cooking and heating, LPG is a lower-carbon and cleaner-burning alternative to gasoline and diesel. With strong growth in Canadian production and Asia-Pacific demand, there is an urgent need for more export capacity on Canada’s west coast.

Trigon is ready to build a new $750-million +, open-access export facility to meet that need. Trigon recently submitted an Initial Project Description to the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) and requested an environmental review of our proposal. We are looking for feedback from local communities and Indigenous Nations.

Open Houses

Trigon will host the following open houses as part of the planning stage of the IAAC environmental review. Members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend, and staff subject-matter experts will be on hand to answer questions

The Details

The project will deliver annual throughput capacity of 2.4 million metric tonnes per year (or 76,275 barrels per day) and onsite storage capacity of 158,000 cubic metres. Since we already provide LPG train unloading and vessel loading services for a nearby facility, we can leverage existing infrastructure and expertise. This will allow our project to be highly competitive and with minimal environmental impact.

Additional rail loading and onsite storage infrastructure will be sited within a repurposed section of our existing coal storage yard, and LPG will be loaded onto ships using our existing berth and liquids loading arms. No in-water works will be required for the project.

Your Feedback

We want to hear from you. Your feedback will help guide both how our project is assessed by the IAAC and, if approved, how it is developed and operated. Your feedback will also ensure that local values, priorities and knowledge – along with rigorous scientific evidence – shape our LPG Project decisions.

We are currently gathering feedback on our Initial Project Description. The public comment period extends from June 24 to July 24. 2026. All feedback will be compiled and shared – unredacted and unedited – with the IAAC for its consideration.

Share Your Feedback

You can also share your feedback directly with the IAAC.

There will be many opportunities to provide feedback throughout the IAAC’s environmental review process. This will include public open houses and dialogue with communities, stakeholders and rightsholder groups.

Learn More

As the IAAC environmental review proceeds, scientific studies, project documents, gathered feedback, other resources and more will be available here. These materials will also be available on IAAC’s public registry of projects.

Timelines & Next Steps

The IAAC now targets completing environmental assessments within two years, and with extensive opportunities for feedback from interested parties at each key stage.

Speak Up for Open Access

Trigon looks forward to engaging with communities, stakeholders and rightsholders on our Trigon Pacific LPG Project. We believe our project offers a low-environmental impact, low-cost pathway. But we still face an unjustifiable export monopoly barrier.
